CFTP Presents: Atomic Rulers of the World

Description

Technically this is supposed to be "Starman and the Atomic Rulers of the World", as this is part of the Japanese Starman superhero movie series.  This is kind of a precursor to Super Sentai/Power Rangers and is directly related to Space Cheif and the infamous Prince of Space.  In Atomic Rulers, the rouge nation of Magolia/Maripolia (the dub says Magolia, the text says Maripolia) has a new nuclear device that's smaller and more powerful than any the world has yet seen.  Their simple plan is to conquer Japan on day one and the rest of the world within the following week mostly with the threat of using their weapons; kind of like The Mouse that Roared, except this tiny nation is evil instead of benign.  Meanwhile, out in space, the Emerald Planet is already somehow feeling the effects of radiation from Earth's continued use of nuclear weapons and see Magolia's new weapon as an even greater threat, so they send Starman to go set things straight.  Starman is a dick.  He's completely invulnerable and yet choses to troll the Magolians rather than just mopping the floor with them at the start.  There's also a subplot about some orphans helping Starman and whatnot as well.

You may have noticed something about the other posters I've done, that they all seem to have a little car in them.  Well, this is the origin of that car!  You see, in the movie, there's a sweet ride that's featured in several scenes, a 1957 Ford Fairlaine to be specific.  We basically made it a character in the movie and when Starman goes up against it (you know the routine, bad guys try to run superhero over, superhero and car push against each other till the hero wins) we root for the Car!  In one of our first live shows (Penguicon 2012. I wasn't present at that one), this movie was featured and my colleagues and the audience started chanting CAR! CAR! CAR! and so it became a thing after that.  It has become a meme I spread throughout the first season posters (and elsewhere), and we often reference Car still.  This was also one of the first movies we riffed on; though it's 7th in the lineup, we riffed on it a few times beforehand, we just didn't record them.

But, wait!  Weren't there little Cars in each of the first six posters I did?  Yes!  Because this is the first poster I did for Cinematic For The People, the other six came after this one!  Back when I only marginally knew what I was doing, but I still think I have much of the same spirit I did back then, just a bit more refined.  I made this using Gimp.

Somehow I know of starman

I have a suggestion for a riffing: Voyage into Space, the Johnny Sokko/Giant Robo film which was also made by the same company who made this and Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Toei company. Granted I do like Johnny Sokko, low budget and unintentionally funny dialogue aside but given that I'm also a MST3k fan who also thinks that it was a crime for not riffing it, I think it'd be cool. Just saying
