CFTP Presents: Curse of the Aztec Mummy

While we were dabbling in the same waters of MST3K when we did Gamera, "Curse of the Aztec Mummy" was more of a friendly, but forceful cannonball into their waters.  Whereas MST3K riffed the third Azztec Mummy movie, "Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy", we riffed the second one in the series.  Like Aztec Mummy 3, Aztec Mummy 2 is at least 60% flashbacks to Aztec Mummy 1.  The Mummy sleeps, but not for long as the nefarious Dr. Krupp, aka: The Bat (!?), has big plans to find and steal the treasure the Mummy is deigned to protect for eternity.  He uses the family from the first movie to find the Mummy's tomb so he can get the bracelet and breastplate that will show them where the treasure is.  There's also an awful El Santo ripoff known as The Angel, and he's pretty much totally incompetent as twice HE has to call someone to rescue him!  The Mummy himself gets the short end of the stick and only shows up for the last two minutes.

We were starting to really figure things out and start to do more things with our show, such as trying to find a theme song.  The version that plays in this one is an effort from me, but ultimately we decided on something else, but my (admittedly unfinished) version of the theme remains in a couple of episodes starting with this one.

I was going for a kind of Raiders of the Lost Ark kind of look with this poster and featured the Mummy himself prominently.  I'm also quite fond of how Dr. Krupp's portrait came out (upper-left frame), I quite nailed his happy/deranged look.
