Description

This is Reginald Ignatius Servo, a smaller-size Steampunk interpretation of the puppet design of MST3K's own Tom Servo! I built him over the course of a few weeks (off and on, cause I do have other things to do, like work and stuff) in late May/Early June 2012. He's quite the assemblage of various parts, most fairly cheap. He's also the first robot I've built with working lights! The day after I finished him I brought him to the "Steampunk Industrial Revolution" in Nashua, New Hampshire where he was rather well received. He was even in the art show! And then he got lost for a little while, but I found him under a table after what I can only assume was some strange adventure. He's about the same size as his older brother Norm Servo, but is much more intricate.

The parts are, as best as I can remember...

A small & tall plastic container that once contained ice cream toppings (Fez)
A small engine part (top of Fez)
A light pull chain (tassel on Fez)
A metal key (Decoration on Fez)
Velcro Srips (Attached to both Fez and the lid of the gumball machine allowing the Fez to remain secure so that it might hide the inner workings of the LED light stick but still allow for easy access)
A red LED light stick (Light inside the clear dome)
A spring (coiled around the light stick)
A plastic cap (base of the spring & light stick)
A gear looking lock washer (Underneath cap)
1 half of a plastic Easter Egg (base interior of clear dome)
Two old electronic components (decoration attached to the Easter Egg)
A pencil thin mustache sticker (Located on the upper beak of the gumball dispenser)
A small size gumball dispenser (Head)
Goggles (consisting of: Two eye pieces from a pair of toy binoculars, two pieces cut from old mirrored sunglasses, some pull chain, and a length of elastic band)
A small spring (insde of the gumball dispenser, came with dispenser)
PVC T tube (Inside Head)
PVC tubing (Spine, connected to PVC T tube)
Heavy duty fishing line (to control the beak)
A plastic toy plate (Underneath head)
A metal cabinet door clip (Attached to the T Tube and toy plate, allowing for the Head & Spine to be removed from and replaced onto the neck with ease)
A lazy suzann joint (between the plate and the Lid)
A twist-on lid (Top of torso)
A dollar store drink dispenser barrel (Torso)
A plastic teacup and saucer (Engine block, painted to resemble real china cup & saucer)
An Oil of Olay canister (Inside Teacup, cap was retained so that the canister can be unscrewed for easy access to the tiny LED light set within)
A string of tiny white LED lights (Inside the Oil of Olay canister)
A yellow sugar scoop (Also inside the Oil of Olay canister)
A gear-looking lock washer (Attached to front of Oil of Olay canister)
2 Toy wire looking things (decoration on either side of the Teacup)
2 Twist off orange juice lids (shoulders)
Wood dowels, eye screws and small bolts (Arms)
A metal clip (On the back, to hold the pistol)
A small squirt gun (The aforementioned pistol)
A metal loop (On the back, allowing Reginald to be attached to a shoulder-slung belt around yours truly for easy, mostly hans-free transport)
A plastic parts container (on the back)
Fancy decals (on Arms, Fez and the plastic parts container on the back)
An old Magic 8 Ball prize from a cereal box (on top of the parts container on the back)
A plastic bowl in the shape of a wood basket (Hover Skirt)
4 plastic door pulls (Arrayed around the base of the Hover Skirt)
6 plastic toy nuts (in conjunction with the plastic door pulls)
1 corrugated plastic tube (Painted black, looped around the base of the Hover Skirt)
5 metal tube holders (Securing the corrugated plastic tube)
Various nuts, bolts & washers
Super Glue, Elmers Glue and Hot Glue (I tend to avoid glues, but occasionally it is necessary)
White, Gold, Bronze, Burgundy, Silver, Nickel, Black, Gunmetal, & Clear Spray Paint.
Cobalt Blue acrylic paint (details on the Teacup)
